Your First Visit
So you have decided that you are tired of being in
pain or not feeling as great as you should. You call our
clinic and make an appointment.
What can you expect next?
When you call our clinic to make your appointment, if
you have your insurance card handy, we can take your
information and then call to check on your benefits and
let you know at your first appointment your deductible
and/or copays.
We are a provider for most insurance companies. We
accept medical insurance, Medicare, workman's
compensation, Medicaid and a personal injury lien. We
do not accept HMOs unless your primary care
physician gives you a referral to our clinic.
If you do not have insurance, we have very reasonable
rates. Our rates for chiropractic are very competitive
and our rates for acupuncture are the lowest in the
area. Dr. Rachum feels it is a responsibility to keep
his rates low so that everyone can afford quality
healthcare.
When you visit our clinic on your appointment day,
bring your insurance card and any other important
papers - accident reports, MRI results, X-rays, etc. to
help the doctor with your medical history and treatment
plan. We will request you to fill out a medical history
form and give you a packet of information along with a
few free samples.
You will then be shown to a treatment room where the
doctor will meet with you to discuss your concerns.
The doctor will examine you and perform some muscle
testing. If the doctor feels that x-rays are necessary,
he will take x-rays on the premises at that time. The
doctor will then discuss with you his ideas for a
treatment plan and, if you agree, he will proceed to
treat you at that time. We have hospital gowns and
depending upon your condition, you may be asked to
change into a gown. Some patients who are having
acupuncture done regularly, bring their own shorts so
that Dr. Rachum can reach the upper part of the leg
and those acupuncture points.
After your treatment, you will be responsible for any
set co-pays that your insurance has let us know about
ahead of time. If there is a deductible or percentage
co-pay, we will submit the claim to the insurance and
after receiving a explanation of benefits, you will be
billed the remainder.
If the doctor feels that you would benefit from follow-up
treatments, he will discuss that with you at the end of
your appointment.
If the doctor feels that your condition needs further
treatment, outside of his area of expertise, he can refer
you to a specialist or further testing.
